Diagnostics

Reproductive-cycle monitoring

A woman’s menstrual cycle doesn’t always follow the textbook pattern. Certain fluctuations are frequent and completely natural, but marked abnormalities can influence the natural desire to have children. Reproductive-cycle monitoring, that is the monitoring or review of the reproductive-cycle sequence, is often part of the first step of the diagnostic process.

Outpatient surgery

In cooperation with anaesthesiologists Doctors Weber and Bernard, as well as our colleagues at Erlangen Outpatients’ Clinic, we carry out follicle punctures as part of IVF/ICSI treatments as well as other outpatient procedures at our clinic.

Spermiogram tests

If a couple are unable to conceive, it is not uncommon for the man’s reduced sperm quality to be the cause. A spermiogram test allows us to determine the quality of the man’s semen. The results of this spermiogram will be an important factor in choosing the right treatment method to enable you to have children.

Fallopian tube diagnostics

In order for sperm to be able to reach the egg cell, it is vital that the fallopian tubes be intact. A special ultrasound examination or a laparoscopy (examination of the abdomen) enables us to check whether the fallopian tubes are obstructed is some way.

Implantation disorders

If pregnancy repeatedly fails to occur during IVF or ICSI treatment, we have to consider the possibility that there may be some dysfunction in implantation of the embryo in the uterus.

Recurrent miscarriages

Miscarriages may occur, particularly during the first few weeks of a pregnancy. We use various diagnostic techniques to find out what may be causing recurrent miscarriages so that we can prevent this traumatic event from happening again.

Additional services

Polar body biopsy

Polar body biopsy provides valuable information about the genetic quality of the egg cells, which often show abnormalities in the distribution of chromosomes, meaning that the egg cells would not be suitable for implantation or the birth of a healthy child.

PGT – Preimplantation genetic testing

Preimplantation genetic testing is the genetic examination of embryos before they are transferred to the uterus as part of ICSI treatment. It is suitable when one of the parents has genetic abnormalities that could lead to frequent miscarriages or severe disabilities in their children.
