Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
Insemination is a non-stressful, pain-free treatment method in which a prepared semen sample is administered directly into the woman’s uterus with a long, thin, flexible tube called a catheter.
How does the insemination process work?
In ‘homologous insemination’ the husband or male partner’s sperm is used. In ‘heterologous’ insemination, a donor’s sperm is used. This procedure is used in the treatment of same-sex female couples, as well as in couples where the male partner is completely infertile. Insemination can be performed during the course of the natural reproductive cycle or in the stimulated cycle.
